Art Classes For Adults

Editor’s note: Last week, we gave a rundown of some options for art classes for kids around Omaha. Why should kids have all the fun, though? We asked a very crafty friend and fellow blogger, Tiffany (check out Feathering The Nest sometime), to share some of her favorite art classes for adults.

Do you crave to feed the artsy side of your personality but just aren’t sure where to turn?  Take a look at a few of my suggestions to keep your right brain satisfied.

If you are looking for something to adorn yourself I recommend taking a jewelry class at Adventure in Art in Benson. While they provide many outlets for your creative side, my favorite thing to do there is glass fusion jewelry.  You can create a one of a kind colorful glass necklace pendant, a pair of dazzling earrings, a sparkling ring or even a keychain.

Looking to fulfill your creative side with something you can hang on your wall.  I recommend one of the new crafting crazes … painting while drinking wine. Of course, you don’t have to drink wine while painting, it’s just an added bonus.

I have visited both The Corky Canvas and Village Canvas and Cabernet and have had an equally fabulous time at both.  For a reasonable price an instructor will walk you through painting techniques as you work to paint a masterpiece. It sounds intimidating, but the instructors are so fabulous you are bound to walk out with a piece you love.  The Corky Canvas is at Midtown Cross; Village Canvas and Cabernet is at Aksarben Village.

Perhaps jewlery making or painting is not your bag.  Iowa Western Community College hosts numerous classes to fill your creative need.  Take a class to learn to knit, create a Pinterest project, or even learn to sew. Check out their calendar of classes here.

Still not satisfied?  Take a look into classes your local hobby stores host (Michaels, Hobby Lobby, JoAnn Fabrics, etc.)  Check with local florists to see if they have classes on floral arranging. If you get out there and investigate one is sure to find something of interest!
Good luck and keep crafting!
