Fall Foods In Omaha Restaurants

Fall in Omaha: Football games, changing leaves, shorter days. And pumpkin-flavored food. And pumpkin-flavored drinks.

I had a pumpkin spiced latte the other day from Scooters and I nearly whispered to it, “Where have you been all year?”

UPDATE: This post was updated in June 2020 to reflect the closure of Crane Coffee.

Here are some restaurants in Omaha and Council Bluffs that have my favorite fall foods (and drinks, yes please!):

Beertopia/Crescent Moon

Want to get on my good side? Buy me a six-pack of an imported Okotberfest beer. It’s my favorite and it’s only available in the fall. The corner of 36th and Farnam streets is Beer Corner USA, and this is is the place to find the biggest variety. You’ll find many on tap at Crescent Moon, Huber-Haus and Max & Joe’s, or you can head next door to Beertopia and buy some retail. You can join a few hundred of your closest friends and celebrate Oktoberfest and good beer this Friday and Saturday, actually.

Ditmars Orchard & Vineyard

You experience something transcendent when you dig into a slab of fried apple pie at Ditmars in Council Bluffs. I was pregnant when I first tried it, so it could have been the bump talking, but I was in heaven eating this utterly unhealthy treat.

Jones Bros. Cupcakes

Ah, the cupcake. So many flavors, so little time. I asked the good folks at Jones Bros. what their most popular fall flavor was and they couldn’t narrow it down. I don’t blame them, how can you pick from this list: Caramel Apples, Pumpkin Cheesecakes, Caramel Apple cupcakes, Smores Cupcakes, Pumpkin Pie cupcake…

They also make an assortment of hot drinks including Spicy Chai, Hot Chocolate Truffle, and Pumpkin Latte. I have a lot of sweet stuff on this list, so I’m also to note Jones Bros. has a few comfort foods that remind me of fall too, such as pumpkin soup and pot pies (for you traditional meat eaters, Stephanie at Jones Bros. pointed out they serve meatload sandwiches).

If you do this again next month I'd love to join you! I could write about the Old Market Farmer's Market. :) There are some really wonderful finds right now!

Trisha, I'll let you know when the next one is! I doubt, though, we'll get our act together in time to get another organized before the farmers market ends.

Going to have to check out the Caramel Apple Cupcakes from Jones Bros. Love me some apples this time of year. Thanks for sharing the goods on the good eats in Omaha for Fall.

Tim, who makes the best pumpkin spice latte in the area, in your opinion? I'm partial to Crane.

I'm not much of a pumpkin-flavored person, but I admire your enthusiasm for them and I love Ditmar's Orchard when they do their balloon launch so now I have to try the pie!

LOL, my "enthusiasm for them." Let me clarify, I'm not one of those die-hard pumpkin-on-everything girls. I just like hyperbole.
